Moon Sprouts Khichdi

Though this is a very basic one bowl meal recipe. However, the variations are found all over the world. In one of the Korean variations, in which meat is added is called KONGNAMUL BAP. The Chinese add a concoction of Spring onions, celery, capsicum, carrots and French beans. The Japanese add the sprouts to Ramen. The Nepalese Kwati has 9 types of Sprouts

In this simple recipe, we will just take the Sprouts and pressure cook them with Rice. If you like a tangy taste, you may put amchur powder a sauce like Hot and Sour.

WARNING – Sprouts must be washed thoroughly with clean running water. Ensure that the moong dal is kept in a clean hygienic place (preferably warm and dark) while sprouting.

 

Ghee

1 table spoon

 

Cumin Seeds

Jeera

1 tea spoon

 
 

Hing

1 pinch

 

Onion

 

1

Finely chopped

Garlic Paste

 

1 tea spoon

 

Rice

     

Sprouted Moong

     

Water

     

Salt

 

1 tea spoon

 

Curd

     

 

 

  1. In a pressure cooker, heat up the Ghee
  1. Add the jeera and hing.
  2. Once the jeera starts crackling, add the Chopped onion and Garlic Paste
  3. Add the rice and sprouted moong.
  4. Add the water and salt. Mix well.
  5. Close the lid and give 3 whistles

 

Enjoy the khichri with curd.
